Airplane Mode Wi-Fi: A free app that enables wifi when phone is in Airplane Mode

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't get why you would need such an application? If you want your phone in airplane mode, you shouldn't be using WiFi anyways. If you want to use WiFi but not the phone (why have a phone) then just turn off your ringer and mobile data (easy to do through settings on the Inspire)

besides, I have many friends who are Pilots. None of them shut off their phones when they're flying (except maybe to turn off the ringers to save from distractions). From what I have been told, the reason airlines want you to turn off your phone/electrical equipment is not because of the possibility of interference, but because they want your full attention during take off and landing.

Just a guess, but a lot of people seem to be using airplane mode at night to silence ringers and preserve battery life. I'd be more likely to believe the app is to supplement that usage rather than using wifi on an actual airplane. (But I could be wrong!  Grin)

Well I think that's good for people who travels to other country and wants to utilize the Inspire as anything but a phone. I guess people want be sure they're not gonna get a ridiculous bill when they get home. Not sure about the whole thing but I'd like to try it when i get back home this december.  Let you know by then. hehe Smiley

Isn't edwin supposed to "dial" a phone if you tell it to? Stupid Edwin did nothing for me when I first opened it. It just sat there staring at me no matter what I said. I think I cussed at it too since I was driving and IT was supposed to help me. I had to pull over and switch to vlingo.

I'm going to uninstall it. But first I'll do the review in appbrain. vlingo worked perfectly the first time I used it. I don't know where I said this but if the app doesn't do what it says the first time, I have no patience for it. There's just too many other things out there to be messing with something that doesn't work as it's supposed to.

I just recently found Elixir.  It has numerous sized panels that you can chose from, and use multiple.  You can add apps to the widget, but Elixir makes them smaller, so you can fit more icons per cell.

The HTC Inspire 4G is AT&T’s first foray into 4G data, and the carrier picked a very nice package for the debut. The Inspire is beautifully constructed with high-grade materials, and it shows the world that the Captivate wasn’t just a fluke — AT&T is seeing the light and getting on board with Android in a big way.

With its recent release, we made the list of 10 apps, which are the best among Android Market for HTC Inspire 4G. These apps will make your life easier in countless ways. 3. Slacker Radio

Everyone talks about Pandora, but Slacker Radio is where it’s at. With a much larger song library, you’ll get more songs you like, and hopefully some you haven’t heard before. Station creation is also much more customizable, as you can choose a starting artist, but then it also suggest other artists that you might like based off that artist right away, making sure there are more songs you like right off the bat, instead of having to go through many songs you don’t like until the station starts to only play songs you like.

4. Pulse News Reader

Pulse is a great free RSS feed reader that syncs directly with your existing Google Reader account, allowing for seamless reading between your computer and your Android device. With a grid based design, Pulse is easy to use and aesthetically pleasing. It even formats all items for reading on mobile devices, so you’ll never have to deal with words hanging off the edge of the screen in the browser again.

5. Go SMS

GO SMS is the best alternative SMS app on the Android Market, and it’s free. There are quite a few different skins available for the app, including one that clones the iPhone’s messaging view. GO SMS has all the features of the default messaging app plus many new features, including customizable fonts, customizable colors, and customizable backgrounds, as well as the previously mentioned skins. One of the greatest features of this free messaging app is the pop up window, which allows you to read and reply to messages without going to the app’s interface. You can then quickly text people back without losing your place while reading a blog article in the browser.

6. TuneWiki

TuneWiki is a Next Generation Social Media player; it promotoes a social network that allows users to add, edit and synchronize lyrics to audio and video files in all languages; and displays location based charts and maps of music played around the globe.

7. Movies

With the favorites option, you can even come back later and download something you liked but wanted to use later. Downloads in this app are very fast, and you can set your wallpaper, ring tone, or notification tone right inside of it.

9. Silent Time Lite

Silent Time is a great app, but is still rather unknown. It comes in both free and paid versions, but the free version has basically everything you need. This app is perfect for students or business professionals. This lightweight app will put your phone into silent mode based on the time rules you set, which is basically like setting up your Google Calendar. You can also choose whether or not to have vibration enabled during these “silent times”. With this app, you won’t have to worry about your choice ring tone blasting off in the middle of class or a meeting.

10. Ringdroid

Ringdroid is great for anyone who wants a custom ring tone from a music file. By default, the Android Operating System allows for mp3s to be used as ring tones without any modifications, but you can’t choose when during the song they will start. Ringdroid allows you to cut up your music file, and choose which part will play for your ring tone, so now you can hear your favorite part of the song when your phone rings, where ever in the song that might appear.

Shazam it will listen to a sound clip of a song and tell you who it is and the name of the song? If so I am in heaven.

Sham is good, but the free version from my own trials only allowed 5 tags a month. There is another called soundhound with which you can type in some lyrics, song title, artists, or you can hum, sing or have it listen to the song you are looking for. I find this app is great when I have a tune stuck in my head and can't remember the name. Soundhound is free with unlimited tagging. There is a paid one with the exact same features. Have fun!

One app that seems to be overlooked is Shush! Ringer Restorer. Allows your ringer volume to be restored after a preset time. Perfect for meetings, movies or any other public event that you do not want your phone to interrupt.
