Group,

I need your help with something. I keep my phone locked with a pattern or numerical password to keep my anyone from looking through my phone when am not around. The problem is....whenever someone sends me a text as soon as you turn the screen on, the text message will show and from who. Also you can read the beginning of it. Now I have looked thru the display options and the settings for the text messages and I can not find a way to disable this feature. The only thing I can think of is disabling the auto-retrieve feature, is that the one that needs to be disabled???  Huh?

Thank you for all your help with this!  Cool

P.S.

Edit: I did a little bit of searching and the closest app I can find is called handcent. I downloaded it on my Inspire and it really does allow you to customize everything about the way you receive messages!

What about when you have your phone locked and you receive a call? I have my facebook contacts link to my "people" contacts and their pictures appear, if your phone is locked then why does it give you the option to answer the call? Sounds like a dumb question but think about it.....the purpose of locking your phone is so that no one is allowed to go thru it, but even if you have placed a lock on your phone when someone calls you....you can answer the call without using the password, thus defeats the purpose of having one.

One more thing I forget to ask, is there a way you can put a lock on certain features like the Messages, People, & Call History? Has anyone heard of an app that allows you to enable a lock for certain features?

Thanks!

Are you using the stock messaging app?  Are you talking about it showing in the notification bar?

Yes I am using the stock Messaging app.

I have a pattern lock placed (and the factory screen lock that requires you to swipe down to unlock that screen and move on to the pattern lock) the issue is when I receive a text message and press the top button on the Inspire, the text message will on appear on the 1st screen lock (the one that requires you to swipe down). So anyone can read my messages as long as they dont swipe down because then it will require the pattern code and the message will not be displayed.

As for the icon being displayed in the notifications bar, that I dont mind because in order to get that far you would need my pattern code, this issue at hand is the text message showing as soon as you turn on the screen.

I have installed the handcent app but I still receive the messages is the stock message apps, and from reading (on other forums) it seems like no matter what app you install, you cannot get rid of messages arriving in your stock messages.

@JCastro1085, there are apps such as Carrot Lock and App-Lock. I think App-Lock is exactly what you're looking for.

Those will lock certain applications. They will not disable pop up notifications. For that, you have to disable that within the settings for your messaging app.
