This is how you get rid of the 300Kb limit!

Download the Ringdroid app,
Use it to set one large song, any song doesn't matter as your default Ringtone.
(you can even delete it after so it doesn't show up in your ringtones!)

That's it your done, once Ringdroid set's it for some reason it erases (I guess? lol) the limit for ringtones in the system, you can even use large files as notifications etc!

As far as I know the app has to stay on the phone to work, I don't feel like removing it so your more than welcome to test it lol..

**NOTE**UPDATE**
May not work with all ringtones, so far I have not run into any problems but on my BF's he can't set some but he can set others.

**NOTE**UPDATE**
Ringtones MUST be in the ringtone folder to work, clicking "New Ringtone" at the top of ringtones will not allow you to use a larger file!

Anyways, Happy listening.

also an easier way that works for me.  create a new folder on your sd card....
media/audio/notifications/ringtones/alarms.
save everything in the alarms folder and you can use them for anything.  thanks for your input we need more up in here!ยก! wink

@chief82: That was an awesome tip, worked for me. Is Droid doing the magic and do we need to have the folders in the same way as you listed (media/audio/notifications/ringtones/alarms), that's what i did but was wondering if we can have ringtones/alarms directly on /mnt/sdcard instead of those many levels. Also any tip on how to remove AT&T apps, dont like and never use them yet i see them always running in background, very irritating.

Thanks for your expertise  wink

I set up a folder like you described and put a couple of songs in the folder.  But, when I go to add a new ringtone in settings on my phone, it's not showing the audio files I put in the alarms folder.

Am I missing something?

I already had (media/audio/notifications/ringtones) so I just added alarms in ringtones with no luck.
