Does anyone know how to rip a bluray disc into mp4 or any playable format on the phone? I'm starting to build a bluray collection and some movies dont come with the "dvd" freebie... I havent been able to figure it out yet but it looks as if handbrake should handle it...

Khassy, first of all, Happy Thanksgiving to you and the whole forum.

In a previous post you said Format Factory was something you were using. Is it decrypting the dvds with security protection?

I'm having problems getting the video to play correctly on my Inspire.. The video and the audio are ver choppy, and the frames over lap each other. The media player on the Inspire and handbrake says the movie is 2 hours and 16 mins long when it's only an hour and 20 mins.

Edit: I went back to the "Title" section and selected the correct time length. Odd.  Converting again to see if this makes a difference.

Edit #2 Still didn't make a difference. Used DVD Decrypter to rip it, and Handbrake to convert...

Sorry about your problem Bass. I couldn't tell you what's wrong because I haven't tried ripping a dvd yet. It's something I am not familiar with yet.

On the other hand, I bought some Doctor Who episodes on iTunes, and also a couple of music videos. The music videos were converted with no hitch, however Format Factory could not convert the Doctor Who episodes. I am not sure if those have a different level of protection or maybe because they are British and may use a different crazy format or something.

Sin,

I've used your detailed instruction steps successfully at least half a dozen times. I can't thank you enough. Soooooo with that said I need to see if I can go to the well once more??

My challenge is that I'm having trouble properly converting a movie that has subtitles.  There's a "subtitle" tab in handbrake next to the video tab you speak of in detail, but you never touched on that setting.  Up to this point I've been able to successfully convert the dvd into an mp4 file on my Inspire...it's just the subtitles aren't there like they are on the original dvd.  Any advice??  Undecided

Thanks,

Joe

In trying to get my first movie on to the Inspire, I downloaded a digital copy to my pc and Rockplayer on the phone. Copied the movie on to the phone and fired it up. Rockplayer says the movie is playing but all I get is a black screen with no audio.   It works on videos created on the phone.  So I tried using Handbrake on the digital copy.  Only gives me an error and does not work.  It does not like the source.  I tried a few of the other presets, changed the format etc. but no luck.  What went wrong?  The digital copy was downloaded thru iTunes (I dislike Apple, maybe it knows that!) and it plays just fine.  I must be missing something someplace.

Can you play the movie on the PC? I am not familiar with apple format but I am guessing they are using a codec that the phone can't play.  Have you tried mx player on the phone?

Plays ok on the PC. It says is a m4v file.  When I look at the file on the phone, I don't think it reconizes it as readable file as it has a ? mark in it. Rockplayer sees it ok.  What format should I down load the files in? The other choice was wmv.
