One thing I love about this phone is it's massive screen, which I thought would be perfect for viewing movies when I'm on the go. The only problem is I'm having trouble actually watching the movies. I tried putting both .avi and .mp4 movies on the SD card then going into ASTRO filemanager (great app) to find the file and play the movie but that hasn't worked... Any ideas? Am I using the wrong file type?

The stock video player doesn't play .avi files. I use the Rock (divx) player to play my .avi movies off my SDcard. I'll attach the .apk file for the rock player here. Just use Astro to install it. Enjoy your .avi's on your Inspire!  wink

Ok so I did as stated above, I have rock player and astro file manger. I'm attempting to put a digital copy of star trek movie that came with the DVD. I can find the file with rock player but the video is all messed up. like a scramble porno channel back in the day.

I think I know what I have to do, convert the file which I believe is a .wmv to a .avi I don't know how to do that.

AVS Video converter works good for me.  I have a few movies on my SD card (Avatar etc.) and they play full screen and in beautiful detail.  I like to show it off to people with blackberrys and chit LOL

I found it on cnet, but the dam wmv file must be protected because it won't let you add to the window where you see the stuff that going to get converted.

I found a great way around this whole problem here is the link to ton's of movie that are as simple to use as click and drag. Go to the link below find the movie you want or ask Super dave to post it, when you find the movie you want use the link, download the MP4 file when it's done drag it to a file on the inspire called movies or something, and find it with rock player and watch away. I just got done with star trek and 10 mins in it seems to be working great.

Note: Link to illegal content was removed. Please don't post things like that.

There's a program called DVDFab that automatically  decrypts and converts movies for your phone, its pretty nice but i havent tried it yet.

Will it decrypt any movie DVDs? And will it convert to mp4?

Never heard of DVDFab but Format Factory does.

I am going to assume these are not free apps either (DVDFab/Format Fab), I think I saw Handbrake mentioned as free.  I don't mind paying, but it has to be reasonably priced and well made.

if you assume you make an ass out or u & me!

DVDFab is free to use the decryptor, they have other products that require to be purchased. Handbreak is free.

Format Factory is donate-ware

Can I donate $0.00?

Hey Fellow Members/new friends... I just bought my HTC Inspire 4G a few days ago and I love it. Previously I was using an IPOD Touch to watch Movies & Music Videos (purchased thru Itunes). After downloading Doubletwist to help me migrate my media content to my new Inspire I found most of my Movies and Music videos will not play.  The files have been migrated, and are labled as "Ironman" ( for example ) inside my doubletwist application but when I attempt to play the file I get the following error message... " We can't play this video because it is protected. Playbook has been disabled."  Will Handbrake also convert these ITUNES DRM files for me??  If not, any other suggestions would be appreciated.  My technology IQ is between novice and moderate, if that helps you help me. The instructions given on how to use HandBrake ( at the beginning of this post ) were absolutely ideal for someone like me.  Many thanks, in advance, if someone can possibly help...  Regards, Joe
