I just found this at XDA. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1107499

I can confirm it does work.  I can't believe it was that easy after all the crap I dealt with this week trying to get my update. (I'm on my second inspire because of this).

Here is the hack so you don't have to go to xda-developers.  Copied directly from the linked page.

THIS PROCESS WILL RESET YOUR CONFIGURED SETTINGS TO THE DEFAULT (Display, Ringtone, Wallpaper, etc.) BUT DO NOT WORRY BECAUSE IT ISN'T PERMANENT. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS RECONFIGURE IT.

1. Go To Your "Settings"

2. Go To "Applications"

3. Go To "Manage applications"

4. Go To The "All" Tab (or any tab that will display all your apps)

5. Find The Applications "Customization Settings Provider"

6. Click On "Clear data"

7. Go Back To "All" Tab (or any tab that will display all your applications)

8. Find The Program "Settings"

9. Click On "Clear data"

Finished

If You Go Back To "Applications" You Will Now Have The Option To Enable "Unknown Sources"

Do you have to be rooted to change these settings?  My APN section shows a lock symbol next to MMS ....I am not rooted.

ok made new APN still does not send MMS. Followed all the info from the link as best as I can tell. There were a couple of extra settings that weren't mentiond on the info so I left them as is.

Had to do a factory reset to correct.
I had to do one as well. I'm not rooted and APN settings were locked. They also appeared to be correct.
Used Sync and then downloaded My Backup free version. Did factory reset then restored from My Backup.
Took awhile but MMS is more important to me than Amazon market right now.

I also tried this and lost my ability to send MMS messages. I had to do a factory reset as well to get it working again. Now my "Market" app is the old version and it is not updating to the 2.2.? version. Anybody got any idea's on how to get it to update? I have force it closed and cleared data but still will not update.

My Market too. Then I went and checked for updates. I was told there are none. When I went back to Market it was the new version. Maybe it just had to catch up.

mine has went almost 24 hours now without updating the Market. just chatted with AT&T and they are pushing out updates to my phone but she said it could take 2-4 hours before I see them.

I just used the Android Central Sideload Wonder Machine to update my Market app to the latest.
