Give us more details.  What PC system are you running on? how are you attempting to connect?  Have you gone to HTC website and downloaded drivers or HTCSYNC?  What setting is your phone on for connection type?

Give us something to work with and we will see if we can help.

you NEED to have HTC sync software/ inspire drivers installed:

http://www.htc.com/us/support/inspire-att/downloads/

with out those your computer won't recognize the phone.

then make sure you select the proper setting in your phone when plugged in,

"disk drive mode" if u want to transfer files
"sync mode" for syncing.

HTC Sync is needed for syncing contacts and calendar.

If all you are trying to do is put wallapers on the sd card then you need no special drivers installed. When you plug the phone into the USB does the phone ask you how you want to connect? If yes then select "disk drive" and then done.  ANY windows computer (XP and up) has those drivers built in and will install them itself. It should say installing drivers and let you know when it is finished.  When finished you can use the sd card in your phone as a removeable hard drive on your pc.  You can then "drag and drop" or "copy and paste" your files right to the sd card.

My Inspire started having issues connecting to the PC when the SYNC update occured.  I had to go to the AT&T warrenty center and exchange my phone.  The phone would charge when connected to my PC, but the icon would not show in the notification bar.  I would change the setting to SYNC or disk drive and nothing.  I went through AT&T tech support, and HTC support twice.  The new phone fixed the issue.  On the first phone I did the manual upgrade to Gingerbread and on the new phone I did the OTA update.  So far, so good!

not sure if all pc's have one, but my laptop has the little slot for the sd card (you have to use an adapter, but they're not expensive) to get pics and music onto my phone from my laptop, I just turn my phone off, take out my sd card, slip it into my laptop and then drag and drop whatever I want onto the sd card and then put it back in my phone, works perfectly..... not sure about the syncing as I have never had the need to do that, but music and pics are a breeze with the sd card  Smiley
